About Community

The Community Nursery School of Wilton prepares each child to lead a resourceful, resilient and responsible life within a supportive community of teachers and families.

For each child, we encourage a spirit of free inquiry, a sense of autonomy, a rich and creative imagination and compassion for others. We create a foundation that enables students to understand, respect, and navigate the world with confidence and compassion.

We believe that play is integral to a child's social, emotional, physical and cognitive development and that children learn best in the context of a community in which they feel safe and valued, and where each student's individual needs are met.

Why Community?

Community provides a small school environment with a personalized touch that helps to make that first school experience for you and your child so special.

A few things that your family can expect include:

  • consistent and clear messaging from our director and staff

  • a directed play approach that encourages cognitive, language and social development essential for Kindergarten

  • friendships that flourish among parents and friends
